2017 Fodera Imperial Custom – Brand New MASSIVE Upgrades (Throbaks/Braz RW/RS Pots)
Finally here! See why the best bass maker on the planet now makes the finest sounding humbucking guitar on the planet. If you want piano like notes…smooth sustain….bloom…even musical notes…then you want a Fodera Guitar. I custom designed these and paid up for MASSIVE upgrades. These have parts NOT found on other Fodera. I paid for Throbak SLE LTD Pickups, BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD BOARD, RS Pots & Cap upgrades, Waverly Open Back Tuners.
The guitar weighs just 7-pounds and it has a SOLID body. The pickup rings are rosewood as is the tailpiece. I selected Large frets and a 1-11/16″ Width. 24.75″ Scale and a ’59 LP Neck Carve (.89″ – .95″) that is satin finish. I selected DOT inlays for class and simplicity.
AUTHORIZED DEALER – FULL WARRANTY
PrimeGuitars is PROUD to announce we have been selected as a FODERA GUITARS Dealer! I have a dear place in my heart for these folks. Joey L is my cousin….when I was a boy I went to his wedding. HUGE wedding…best I’ve ever been to. I was talking to him about my love of baseball. Told him my glove broke. HE WENT TO HIS CAR AND GOT HIS & GAVE IT TO ME….I had it until I was like 35 and it finally fell apart.
So right now I have 4 guitars on order. These will have BRAZILIAN BOARDS! Throbak Pickups! Waverly Open Back Tuners! RS Pots & Caps! We went ALL OUT to make this a TOP OF THE LINE instrument in every way from woods to build to craftsmanship to components.
Callaham S-type
Callaham is a name synonymous with the highest quality modern production parts. Bill Callaham actually made his name making Guitars & Amps. Bill’s Guitars are coveted by players and collectors alike (his amps too which are considered the tonal equivalents of Trainwrecks). At his peak, Bill was backordered 4 years. Rarely do you find a used Callaham for sale.
This 1-owner nonsmoking piece is exceptional. It has the flame ‘to die for’ maple neck and a 1-piece Ash body. It was custom created for a local bass player who only used this at his home. Just have to say position 2 & 4 on this guitar are probably the BEST I’ve heard. The custom wound Fralin Pickups (custom made for Callaham) really work perfectly in this instrument. The neck has a satin finish and the profile is the slightest of V’s which most people will ‘feel’ as a narrow shouldered C. 1-11/16″ Width and 9.5 Radius with Med/Lg Frets. The instrument comes with its original hard case. THere are no repairs.
Of note is the ‘blend’ knob that allows you to obtain 7 total combinations. The bridge pickup has a ‘tele’ backplate allowing it to get into that territory.

James Trussart SteelDevile COPPER 2010
Copper SteelDevile by James Trussart. Arcane Pickups (of course), Holly/Steel Body & Mahogany Neck. 12″ Radius, 25″ Scale & 1.65 Nut Width. Comes with the Unsigned Warranty Card, Certificate of Authenticity and Original Hard G&G Case. From a nonsmoking environment. Mint “-” Condition.
SEE all the Specs & a Detailed Condition in the PICTURES where I offer you my proprietary sheet.
2016 Versoul Raya
Versoul Guitars fly off my shelves. This Raya has a beautiful top end and clarity to the bottom that I have not found in the singlecuts. Perhaps it is the Alder Body or Maple & Aspen Neck. Perhaps the custom Versoul Humbuckers are wound slightly differently. I’m not certain but this instument has a uniquely beautiful tonal spectrum.
The weight is a perfect 7lb-8oz. The instrument comes with its original G&G Hardshell Case. Of course the guitar is from a nonsmoking environment. The nut is 1.70″ in Width and the board has a 12″ Radius. Comfortable C profile neck that isn’t too skinny or fat.
You can see all the rest of the specs and a detailed condition if you check out the pictures included (for my proprietary sheet).
Fodera Custom Emperor 5 Bass! 65 Year Old Woods!
This is one cool piece! Fodera Custom Emperor in Trans-Red! The thing about this guitar is that the woods were 65-years old before the guitar was made. There is the optional Macassar Ebony Ramp included. Also there is the Mike Pope preamp. Abalone Inlays too! The pickups are Duncan Hot Wound Jazz. The weight is a fantastic 10lbs even. The guitar was refretted in 2016 with Heavy Frets.
Overall the guitar is extremely clean with just some very light feather surface contact scratches (the kind you only see in the light) and maybe a ding or 2. The original case is inlcuded but it has some wear on it. There is something written on the case indicating Atlantic Records NYC; not sure if this was used in a studio or not. The Low B is REALLY clear and doesn’t fart out or get lost.
You don’t find many Foderas in this color. The upgrades and old woods make this a must have. F
2014 Strandberg Masvidalien Ltd Ed
2014 Strandberg Custom Shop Masvidalien Limited Ed #6 or 16. And if this weren’t cool enough the pickups have been upgraded to the highly well reviewed Fishman Devin Townsend models. Near Mint Condition with the Strandberg Padded Case & Cert.
Nonsmoking and clean as a whistle. You can see all the Specs & Condition in detail if you look at the pictures. But if you know this guitar then this is a way to save dough on one that most would call mint.
2010 D’Pergo Aged Vintage Classic w Vintage Ltd 50s Pus
D’Pergos are considered by many to be the Bentley of the Strat world. Hard to belive something hand crafted can be so very perfect. Difficult to think that there is a better built guitar than what you’ve felt or seen…but these just are.
This 2010 Aged Vintage Classic has the coveted Vintage Limited 50s pickups. To my ears these impart slightly more of a top end to the tone. As expected this features a 1-piece Quarter Sawn Certified River Recovered Neck. The frets are Medium 6230. The nut is 1.65″ and the radius is 10. The neck is a .89 Vintage Offset V that doesn’t feel as ‘offset’ as others that I’ve owned. No fretwear and no physical wear.
The body is river recovered ash. The guitar weighs 7lb-6oz. IT comes with the G&G Form Fit Original Hard Case, Build Sheet, Certificate of Authenticity and YES the trem bar for those who wonder.
Very clean one-owner instrument that was obviously well cared for. The new D’Pergo S-types are 3x as much as this. I’ve owned them. This is a steal and you would be hard pressed to tell the difference blindfolded.
Collings I35 Deluxe w BRAZ Board
Pretty fantastic Collings I35 Deluxe featuring a BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD BOARD. The top on this nonsmoking piece is amazing quilt with a 3D presence. This piece weighs just 6lb-9oz and comes with the it’s Ameritage Form Fit hard case. Included is the Certificate of Authenticity & Unsigned Warranty Card.
This instrument is loaded with features. We discussed the Brazilian Board. It has CTS 500k pots and Xiccon tone. The frets are Medium. 1-11/16″ Width with a 12 Radius. The Medium C neck has NO fret wear. The pickups are Lollar Low Wind.
Collings electrics are special pieces. They are influenced by Mike Stevens (Founder of the Fender Custom Shop). These rank amongst the finest crafted production instuments available. A/B vs a Gibson and you will pick the COllings every time. You would expect these to cost 2x as much if the production were not as fine tuned.
Mario Martin – Custom 1 Off
Are you into scalloped fretboards!? If you are then this custom ordered Mario Martin is perfect for you! Just SO easy to play. The satin finish on the neck and the heavy frets make this Soft-V profile neck a dream to play. Traditionalists don’t fear, it’s actually easier to play a scalloped board. It helped me develop a very light touch (which this hammerfisted, sausage fingered man needed).
This instrument has a custom color/striped Alder Body with a maple neck. 9.5 Radius, Kluson-Style Tuners, Soft V-C Neck and 1-5/8″ Width. Mojotone pickups (I believe). Comes with the original padded Mario Martin logo gigbag and Cert. YES it has the trem bar (my favorite questiion. …has anyone ever passed on a guitar because it didn’t have one with it?).
James Trussart Custom Steel Top – El Vikingo 003
James Trussart Guitars are just badass. You get the Arcane pickups. You get top quality components. You get freaking cool looks. They play great. Used by pros through art collectors. Prices for new ones have been creeping up and up creating a particularly attractive value in the clean/used market.
Take this custom guitar. Just 8lb-6oz. Bigsby B5 Trem. This is a special edition El Vikingo 003 with aged steelfinish! Original Hard G&G Case. Arcane Pickups. No fretwear. Just some very light contact marks on the back keep this from being mint. I also have 004 with a maple board (also for sale…or maybe it went poof already).
I have several of these with various slight differences. I acquired them from a nonsmoking studio. You get choices and price. What’s not to like?…..unless you want to pay full price and get one ‘new’ that was probably knocked around in some store played by every ‘let me try it all day….but my wife will kill me if I buy it so I’ll put it back all sweaty and dinged’ guy.

James Trussart Custom Steel Top El Vikingo 004
James Trussart Guitars are just badass. You get the Arcane pickups. You get top quality components. You get freaking cool looks. They play great. Used by pros through art collectors. Prices for new ones have been creeping up and up creating a particularly attractive value in the clean/used market.

Driskill Diablo
Early Boutique Guitars were made back before it was even possible to trade pictures of instruments online. You heard about them…maybe saw one in person. Is that PRS?…each was a 1-off creation. Each went to somewhere where an owner loved it and showed it off to jealous friends who spent their time in Music & Arts with the cardboard guitars.
Joe Driskill was one of the earliest builders of the “golden age’ boutique builders. His necks are reinforced with uniquely. His design, build and setup all done by hand himself. Pre-CNC. Pre-partscaster. The result is amazing. These guitars are never duplicated. If you see one grab it. This one is fantastic.
1-piece Mahogany Body with Hall-of-Fame Quilt Maple Top. Custom inlay. Brazilian Rosewood Board. Just 8b-9oz. You can see all the rest of the specs and a detailed condition description in the pictures.
For less than the price of a stamped out bolt on parts guitar you can get a 1-off piece that is a showstopper visually, tonally and playability-wise.
2016 Palir Stinger Classic
There is a new kid on the block. Palir guitars first caught my attention with their fresh finishes and unique take on aging. I grabbed a few and quickly realized these were every bit as good as the popular boutique names but at a HUGE discount. Then I realized as used pieces they are complete bargains.
Take this 2016 that could pass for new. Nonsmoking with original hard G&G Case & Certificate of Authenticity. Porter Pickups. Mid-7lbs. Very light aging. Alder body & Maple Neck. 1.65″ Width and 10 Radius. Gotoh “Kluson” Tuners. Med/Heavy frets with no wear.
See the pictures for a Spec/Condition Sheet with all the details.
Beautifully handcrafted. Thin thin finish. Expertly assembled and this just vibrates and rings. You can pay a lot more and get not as good. Grab this before you regret.
Echopark ’59 Deluxe
2015 Echopark ’59 Deluxe. I’ve recently been bitten by the vintage bug. As I’ve played inconsistent uplayable old guitars it re-occurred to me why I prefer modern boutique. Simple. Consistency and playability. All the kinks have been worked out. The best builders simply have it down. Echopark guitars are played by pros…collected by enthusiasts and coveted by gear lovers. They are not for resale often. They are unique and loaded with top components. I happen to really love these instruments.
This ’59 Deluxe has a 1-piece Mahogany Neck and a 1-piece Mahogany Body. Arcane pickups (LOVE the Firebird in the neck). Kluson Dlx tuners. 1-11/16″ Nut Width. Just 7lb-7oz with a nice full neck profile. Of course it comes with its original G&G Form Fit Hard Case & Certificate of Authenticity. The piece is from a nonsmoking environment.
See the pictures for a Spec/Condition Sheet with all the details.
2013 Tom Anderson Short T Classic w Contours
2013 Tom Anderson – Short T Classic w Contours. That’s a mouthful and this guitar is an earful of TONE. Amazing variety of flavors in a 6lb-9oz contoured comfortable platform. The satin 1-piece neck feels fast and easy. The Happy Medium neck profile is comfortable for any sized hands for any period of playing. The M1 & TV3 pickups (with 5-way and Kickback) give you so many tones. These guitars are a standard in modern boutique instruments. Still small enough batches to get unique qualities….large enough to obtain cost reductions needed to achieve a reasonable price point for all. USED they are STEALS especially withg a little bit of wear like this one.
This guitar is a rare “player eligible” grade instrument. I’m calling it VG to be conservative. The guitar is quite clean. NO fretwear. Just a tiny ding on the tip of the headstock. The ‘issues’ are mostly finish related because there are a couple of spots where the finish was chipped. There are a few dings mostly on the back and edges. The front has a 2″ line sort of that I can’t photograph that is like a Levi’s Jeans rivet lightly pressed into the surface? Not through finish just there. From 5′ away most of this you can’t notice. Guitar still has the original form fit case. Nonsmoking.
SEE THE PICTURES FOR A SPEC/CONDITION SHEET WITH ALL THE DETAILS.
If you want Tom Anderson quality at a price of a Fender Custom Shop then this one is for you.
Carol Ann Tucana 2
Carol Ann Tucana 2 head in Excellent Nonsmoking Condition! Tubes look great and the amp is clean. Works as it should. The amp does NOT come with a footswitch but it does come with the power cord.
Dr Z – Z Wreck Combo w Tone Tubby
Stephenson CUSTOM Head & Flight Case
Stephenson CUSTOM head in Excellent Nonsmoking Condition. As seen here this head has included with it a custom made wood front panel (and the standard tolex one as well). The amp comes with a form fit flight case (not pictured) and power cord.
A clean beautiful sounding head from a dealer who specializes in the hardest to find boutique gear. What’s not to like!
RED ROCKET – Commander Prototype!
2013 Red Rocket PROTOTYPE Commander! This one features TV Jones T-Armond Pickups. The body is chambered mahogany and the guitar weighs in at just 7lb-4oz. The body has double binding (top & back!). I love these instruments because each is an artist’s unique vision. You simply don’t find this level of detail and quality at this price point. These are sleeper guitars for sure.
See all the SPECS & DETAILED CONDITION in the PICTURES.
As a summary, this nonsmoking guitar comes with it’s G&G Form Fit Hard Case. The mahogany neck has a 1-11/16″ Width and a 12″ Radius. The tuners are Kluson Deluxe. The neck shape is a nice C that is not huge. There is no fretwear. The frets are a Med/Lg size.
This piece was THE proto for the Commander lineup! Grab what you can be sure was the finest work this luthier could produce.
Red Rocket – Atomic Retro Custom
Ok I have a confession to make…I have a soft spot in my heart for Red Rocket guitars. I’ve found no 2 that are the same. They are hand crafted using exotic woods and top quality components. They sound amazing and play like the highest quality guitars….AND….wait for it…they trade cheap (old Wall St term). The & Lipe guitars are the two best values in the sub-$2200 used market.
This piece features a Lacewood Top over Ash Body. A Paul Ferro 2-Piece Neck. Abalone Dots. Vintage Vibe Charlie Christian in the neck. Just unique and soulful. See the Spec/Condition Sheet (in pictures) for the rest of the details.
The Charlie Christian pickup has a real nice fatness while retaining the high end. Think semi-hollow 335 meets tele. The guitar resonates. The finish is thin. If you are sick of mass-produced stamped out paint guitars then this is for you. Step up without stepping over your budget.
CP Thornton Blues Queen – Near Mint
People always ask me for recommendations on world class guitars that won’t break the bank. THIS, my deciples, is one such instrument. Hand crafted with both a carved top AND a carved back! Even the cavity covers are hand crafted wood. The gold finish is rich and deep. The headstock overlay is shows the wood grain. This is not a stamped out piece made to look good. This is created with top components (See the Spec/Condition sheet in the pictures for all those details).
The key for this guitar is the tone. Top level guitars have a beautiful 3D quality to notes. I like to hear the strings come through as well as the wood. I am not personally a fan of pickups that impart a tone to the guitar. I can grab a $356 plank for that. The highs are just wonderful. They have spank and bloom and are not harsh. Almost sounds to me like I’m playing through an old Fender Amp. The lower notes are clear and not woofy. For the money you will get a bolt-on mass produced partscaster OR you can get this handcrafted lovingly sculpted guitar. You decide.
James Tyler Studio Elite HD – Hazmat Shmear
James Tyler fans can never get enough of these instruments! If you’re a collector or sitting on the sidelines waiting to dive in, this one is for you! This has all the features serious Tyler lovers crave. First off, the 1-piece quartersawn maple neck is the Standard ’59 C (.845″ – .975″). The frets are heavy .110 – .055″. 1-11/16″ Nut and a compound radius of 9.5″-12″. Hipshot locking tuners. JTS2500 Single Coil pickups and a Secret in the Bridge.
The weight is just 7lb-3oz. The guitar features the coveted Midboost. The instrument is SOLID not chambered & the body is Mamywo. YES, it has the Tyler Logo Hard Case (form fit including the tools and build sheet). The Hazmat Shmear is a satin/matte finish and is ridiculously complex in person.
The guitar is in Excellent nonsmoking condition with a few mintor flaws noted in the Spec/Condition Sheet (see pictures).
D’Pergo Aged Vintage Classic
Wonderful D’Pergo Aged Vintage Classic. This nonsmoking piece weighs in at typical 7lb-5oz (for these guitars). The neck is a 1-piece Aged, River Recovered Maple. The body is a river recovered 1-piece Ash. The neck profile is a wonderful full (but not huge) C. The satin finish is the best in the business.
I would classify the fret size as Med/Large. The radius is 9.5″ and there is no fretwear. This instrument comes with its original hardshell form fit case. The serial number is 0240 which places it around 2006/7. The only wear of note (see the Spec/Condition sheet in pictures for a full overview) is a slight discoloration on the arm rest. This is likely easily buffed out. Also the neck shows signs of slight wear on the edges.
The pickups appear to have been changed. I am not 100% positive on what’s in there but strongly believe them to be Lollars (based upon identifying marks). I can’t warranty this so if you have concerns I strongly advise you to do your own research prior to purchasing to avoid post-purchase anxiety. If they are Lollars what I can say is that they sound fantastic. DeTemple “Sweet Spot” pickups are custom Lollars. If Lollars are good enough for Detemples then they are certainly good enough for a D’Pergo.
Speaking of the comparison. I have owned and sold over 40 of each brand (D’Pergo & Detemple). Each guitar sounds different…both brands have their own tonal vibe. I am in a unique position to help you select the perfect specimen for YOUR needs. I maintain a large library of modern & vintage amps that I use to A/B/C guitars to explain to you the subtle nuances before you buy.
D’Pergos are noted for their EVEN notes and extremely musical bloom. These guitar are the Bentley of instruments….they are handmade but you can’t believe how perfect they are. The sustain is haunting. The evenness of the notes can’t be overstressed. Nothing harsh. Just smooth smooth smooth while maintaining that classic strat tone. Each position sounds DIFFERENT and not like a mishmash of tone. These are considered by many as the cream of the crop.
Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul 59RI 2014 VOS
2014 Gibson Custom Shop LPR9 1959 Reissue Les Paul. This is a perfect weight of just 8lb-9oz. The figuring on this top is multi-dimensional. You get a different facet with each angle. The guitar is stock and comes with the Brown Gibson Case, Certificate of Authenticity and Tag. YES, this is a VOS model. It also comes with the extra cavity cover for the back of the switch tip.
Just a beautiful guitar from a nonsmoking home. Almost no wear except for maybe some light guard contact scratches. Smells new!
